Some call me Captain Dan.
I've crossed seas, flown skies, run long distances and traversed mountains. But it was while sailing Patagonia that I found a territory I never wanted to leave.
It all began aboard the Betty Ann, my first yacht. With her I learned to read these channels: nights with no light but the stars, the wind shifting behind an island, the silence of a fjord at dawn, snow appearing through the forest and southern dolphins accompanying the passage.
Patagonia ended up captivating me far more than my other worlds — agronomist, entrepreneur, triathlete or aviator — because here every day holds a measure of uncertainty and discovery.
It's not just about reaching a place. It's about knowing which way to enter, when to wait and when to keep sailing.
I know these channels, but I still sail them with the curiosity of someone discovering them for the first time.
Sometimes you'll see me restless, other times simply observing. I love watching that moment when those who board the boat start forgetting their phones, stop checking the time and begin paying attention to what's right in front of them.
A true voyage doesn't only take you through fjords and channels: it returns you to a calmer, more attentive and more respectful way of seeing the world.
